Square Enix Holdings has announced<\/a> that the current president and representative director of both Square Enix Holdings and Square Enix, Yosuke Matsuda, is expected to be replaced by company director Takashi Kiryu. The change and the date on which it is to occur are to be officially finalized pending approval at the Annual Shareholder\u2019s Meetings and the meeting of the Board of Directors.

Yosuke Matsuda first joined Square in 1998, and following the formation of Square Enix, he continued to hold important positions at the company. He was assigned to the role of president and representative director of Square Enix and Square Enix Holdings in June 2013, and was the driving force behind the company for almost ten years. He is a well-known fan of FPS games and is referred to by the affectionate nickname headshot ojisan (uncle headshot). The details of the proposed change in the announcement do not include a new title for Matsuda after he steps aside from his role as president.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takashi Kiryu was appointed general manager of the Corporate Planning Division of Square Enix Holdings in 2020 and is currently one of the company directors. The date of the position change for both Matsuda and Kiryu is expected to be finalized pending approval at the Annual Shareholder\u2019s Meeting and the meeting of the Board of Directors. The Annual Shareholder\u2019s Meeting will occur in May for Square Enix and June for Square Enix Holdings.
