Granzella has started a crowdfunding campaign to fund the development of additional content for the upcoming R-Type Tactics I\u30fbII Cosmos<\/strong><\/em>. The campaign is set to run from November 16 to November 30, 2022, 6:59 a.m. PST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R-Type Tactics I\u30fbII Cosmos<\/em> is a remake of R-Type Command<\/em> and its Japan-exclusive sequel R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate<\/em> in one package for PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. The game is scheduled to release in the summer of 2023.

The original version of R-Type Command<\/em> launched in Japan back in 2007 for the PSP, with R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate<\/em> following in 2009. The games are based in the world of Irem\u2019s classic horizontal shooting series R-Type<\/em>, but with turn-based strategy gameplay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R-Type Command<\/em> centers around a conflict between humans and the Bydo Empire as players take the role of a commanding officer of Earth\u2019s Space Corps. Stages take place above Earth, in outer space, and on other planets as players develop their army of R-9 series ships, POW Armor supply units, and a variety of other unit types in order to clear missions. In R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate<\/em>, a faction called the Granzella Revolutionary Army has split from Earth\u2019s military with the game depicting a battle of humans against humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R-Type Tactics I\u30fbII Cosmos<\/em> looks to recreate these games with the latest visual technology. The crowdfunding campaign being held on Kickstarter is for the development of additional content not included in the PSP versions. If successful, the campaign states that the team will add 24 new scenarios (missions), as well as additional units such as trans-dimensional fighters and Bydo weapons. The team says these will add more strategy and depth to the game and online competitions. They are also planning to have voiceovers for the logbooks of these new scenarios.

The crowdfunding campaign has a goal of 4 million yen (roughly $28,650). Rewards include being able to appear as a key figure in the game\u2019s additional missions (limited availability) and being able to attend planning meetings and playtest the game as a development advisor (limited availability). There are also rewards for additional items that can be used in R-Type Final 2<\/em> and R-Type Final 3 Evolved<\/em>, which is scheduled to release on PS5 in March of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of crowdfunding, R-Type Final 2<\/em> was also developed due to a successful crowdfunding campaign, reaching its 45-million-yen (roughly $322,500) goal in only a day. The campaign to add additional content to R-Type Tactics I<\/em>\u30fbII Cosmos<\/em> is also off to a strong start, with it having just reached its goal as of this writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R-Type Tactics I\u30fbII Cosmos<\/em><\/a> is scheduled to release in the summer of 2023. The crowdfunding campaign<\/a> to develop additional content is going on now until November 30, 2022, 6:59 a.m. PST.
