Kadokawa has announced Elden Ring The Road to the Erdtree<\/strong><\/em>, a manga based on the world of Elden Ring<\/em> that is currently running on the free manga service COMIC Hu. The manga is being made by Nikiichi Tobita, and perhaps to all of our surprise, reinterprets Elden Ring<\/em> as a comedy manga.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elden Ring<\/em> is FromSoftware\u2019s latest action RPG. The game was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, also known for titles such as the Dark Souls<\/em> series and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice<\/em>, with author George R.R. Martin helping craft the game\u2019s world and lore. The game takes place across a massive open field called The Lands Between which players fight their way through as a Tarnished. Like the previously mentioned titles, Elden Ring<\/em> is also known for its stiff difficultly and dark setting.

Elden Ring The Road to the Erdtree<\/em> is the first manga based on the hit game and starts with a Tarnished named Aseo speaking with a mysterious woman named Melina before following the Guidance of Grace and setting off for the Erdtree. Staple characters like Blaidd the half-wolf, Margit, Godrick, and Ranni are set to appear, so it will be interesting to see how they impact Aseo\u2019s adventure. After barely escaping Limgrave alive, will Aseo even be able to reach his current destination of Stormveil Castle?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With it being a comedy manga, the tone differs from the source material with jokes flying right out of the gate, from Melina finding the Tarnished lying face down in a loin cloth to him taking a heavy blow just after meeting White Mask Varre. While it follows the flow of Elden Ring<\/em>, the jokes are on full display. It will also be interesting to see if some of the game\u2019s NPCs with smaller roles get more fleshed out personalities in the manga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elden Ring The Road to the Erdtree<\/em> is being made by Nikiichi Tobita who is known for works such as A cursed Sword\u2019s Daily Life<\/em> and Shinobi Gataki<\/em>. Though unexpected, being a comedy manga means we\u2019ll see Elden Ring<\/em> from a different perspective and enjoy the world in a new way. According to Tobita<\/a>, they weren\u2019t sure how far they could go and tried to push the boundaries with their first drafts. After those were approved with minimal corrections, Tobita says they were left perplexed (but also says they got a little carried away and had some things denied).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Japanese version of Elden Ring The Road to the Erdtree<\/em> is available through the free web manga service COMIC Hu<\/a>. Kadokawa has also teamed up with international publishers to release the manga in 11 languages including English and Chinese with simultaneous or near simultaneous releases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
