Takahashi says they imagined what a new <em>Ridge Racer<\/em> might be like and composed the songs with that concept in mind. The album is available for 3,080 yen (roughly $22.80).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&quot;REIWA TYPE 4&quot; Album Short Preview \/ Kohta Takahashi\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LtRjQTopqEY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Kohta Takahashi is a former Namco (currently Bandai Namco Entertainment) music composer. Takahashi was involved in numerous titles both at Namco and since going independent, including <em>Ace Combat 2<\/em>, <em>Tekken 5<\/em>, <em>Super Smash Bros. for Wii U<\/em>, <em>Bullet Soul<\/em>, <em>Fit Boxing 2<\/em>, and more. Takahashi also worked on the <em>Klonoa<\/em> series which is getting a remastered release this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Takahashi is known for working on a number of titles in the <em>Ridge Racer<\/em> series as well such as <em>R4 Ridge Racer Type 4<\/em>, <em>Ridge Racer V<\/em>, <em>Ridge Racer 6<\/em>, and <em>Ridge Racer<\/em> (PSP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That brings us to <em>REIWA TYPE 4<\/em>, a collection of tracks Takahashi says they put together while imagining they were composing music for a new <em>Ridge Racer <\/em>game. Takahashi says they made a connection between this year being the fourth year of the Reiwa era and \u201cR4.\u201d In Japan, the rule of each emperor is marked by an era name that\u2019s used to denote what year it is, with the current era being called Reiwa. Takahashi says they noticed this and thought, \u201cthis is the only chance I have to give the album this name!\u201d and wanted to put it out no matter what.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u30d7\u30ec\u30a4\u30b9\u30c6\u30fc\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3 \u30af\u30e9\u30b7\u30c3\u30af\u300eR4 -\u30ea\u30c3\u30b8\u30ec\u30fc\u30b5\u30fc \u30bf\u30a4\u30d74-\u300f\u5b9f\u6a5f\u30aa\u30fc\u30d7\u30cb\u30f3\u30b0\u6620\u50cf\u3092\u30c1\u30a7\u30c3\u30af\uff01\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DREsPbDt-GA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption><em>*R4 Ridge Racer Type 4<\/em> is also available on the PlayStation Classic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br><em>Ridge Racer<\/em> is a popular racing series that started in the arcades in 1993, but many gamers are likely more familiar with it as a series that launched alongside new gaming consoles such as the PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS and Xbox 360.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there are many titles in the series, if we ignore mobile games, there hasn\u2019t been a new release since 2012\u2019s <em>Ridge Racer Unbounded<\/em>. And if we limit it to just numbered titles, we have to go all the way back to 2006\u2019s <em>Ridge Racer 7<\/em>. While a reason hasn\u2019t been given for the series\u2019 stoppage, Bandai Namco producer <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/harada_tekken\/status\/1445344693030588416\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Katsuhiro Harada<\/a> has stated that he thinks the series would be \u201cvery difficult\u201d to reboot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With that in mind, Kohta Takahashi imagined what a new game might be like and composed an unofficial soundtrack to it.
