He\u2019s mainly known for supervising the <em>F-Zero<\/em> and <em>Star Fox<\/em> series and was also the art director for <em>The Legend of Zelda: Majora\u2019s Mask<\/em> and creator of Tingle. He worked as a supervisor on both <em>Star Fox Zero<\/em> and the spinoff animation <em>Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins<\/em>. After retiring from Nintendo in 2021, Imamura has stayed busy as a freelancer and a professor at the International Professional University of Technology in Osaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On April 21, the 6<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of <em>Star Fox Zero<\/em>, Imamura took to his Twitter account to request that Nintendo port the game to the Nintendo Switch. The game released in 2016 and is currently the latest title in the series. <em>Star Fox Zero<\/em> was a collaboration between Nintendo and PlatinumGames, with PlatinumGames\u2019 Hideki Kamiya even <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PG_kamiya\/status\/12374010410\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeting<\/a>, \u201cI want someone from Nintendo to bust into Platinum and tell us to make a new Star Fox,\u201d all the way back in 2010. In regard to the development of the game, Kamiya has also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PG_kamiya\/status\/728567756333813765\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stated<\/a> that the game design was already done when PlatinumGames accepted work on the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Star Fox Zero - Launch Trailer: Available Now!\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kexWqX34E7w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While <em>Star Fox Zero<\/em> inherits the series\u2019 unique traits, it\u2019s also a modern take with polished graphics and exhilarating shooting gameplay. However, the controls that focused on the Wii U gamepad and its features were a mixed bag with players. And when you consider that there wasn\u2019t a whole lot of excitement around the Wii U at the time of the game\u2019s launch, it\u2019s hard to say it was a successful release. But with a port to the widely adopted Nintendo Switch and a control scheme that\u2019s adapted to regular controllers, it could be a real hit with players like many of the Wii U ports we\u2019ve already seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imamura continued his <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ima_1966\/status\/1516897844384346112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pitch<\/a> by saying if a sequel to the animation is made, he would like to work with the same team members as before. Even though he\u2019s currently working as a professor, it doesn\u2019t look like his desire to create has waned in any way. His initial request to Nintendo has already been retweeted nearly 500 times, even being retweeted by the game\u2019s director, former PlatinumGames developer Yusuke Hashimoto. The game was oriented for the Wii U in a lot of ways, which might make it somewhat difficult to port. With that being said, Imamura has at the very least brought a renewed attention to <em>Star Fox Zero<\/em>.
