Nintendo has released another free update for Metroid Dread<\/strong><\/em> on the Nintendo Switch which adds 3 different types of boss rush modes to the game. These modes can be accessed by pressing the R button on the \u201cSamus Files\u201d screen after completing certain conditions in the game.

One of the modes that was added is Boss Rush. In this mode, players take on the bosses that appear in the main game one after another and aim to get the best time in the 12-round gauntlet. This mode is unlocked when the game is cleared on any difficulty level. The damage you receive carries over to the next round, but weapons are fully restored. In addition, if you\u2019re defeated by a boss, it\u2019s possible to retry from that point. However, a time penalty will be added to your run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up is the extremely difficult Dread Rush mode. Just like the previously mentioned Boss Rush, it\u2019s a 12-round gauntlet where you aim for the best time possible. But in Dread Rush, one hit means you\u2019re instantly defeated. This mode is unlocked by completing the challenging Dread Mode of the main game, where one hit also means game over. It\u2019s also possible to retry where you were defeated in Dread Rush with a time penalty.

Completing either Boss Rush or Dread Rush will unlock Survival Rush. This mode challenges players to defeat as many bosses as they can within a 5-minute time limit. Defeating a boss adds 30 seconds back to the clock and defeating a boss without taking damage adds another 30 seconds back. This bonus decreases with each loop through the bosses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, there is also a Practice Mode that was added, which is unlocked after defeating a boss in either Boss Rush or Dread Rush. The bosses available to practice against increase as you progress through Boss Rush, so it can be a great way to go back and iron out any rough spots in your play as you aim for high scores. It also records your best times for defeating each boss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metroid Dread<\/em> received its first free update in February of this year. It added not only the previously mentioned Dread Mode, but also the easier Rookie Mode which lowers the damage taken from bosses and increases what\u2019s replenished from item pickups. With this latest update, Metroid Dread<\/em> now has even more content to dig into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
