The data includes both physical and digital sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Elden Ring<\/em> is the latest title from FromSoftware released on February 25. It reimagines the formula they have built over the past decade with their Soulsborne games while retaining the core elements. The game structure has shifted to what they call an open field to expand a sense of exploration and discovery while ambitiously incorporating new gameplay mechanics to allow for more diverse playstyles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were multiple signs that indicated the game was off to a good start. GSD reported the game as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/articles\/2022-03-03-elden-ring-is-the-biggest-non-fifa-or-call-of-duty-launch-since-red-dead-redemption-2-uk-digital-charts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the biggest UK video game launch since Call of Duty: Vanguard<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/articles\/2022-03-15-elden-ring-is-the-biggest-new-ip-since-the-division-european-monthly-charts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Europe&#8217;s biggest new games IP since <em>The Division<\/em> in 2016.<\/a>\u201d The game topped the JP\/EU\/NA ranking on the PlayStation Store in February, and according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.famitsu.com\/ranking\/game-sales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Famitsu<\/a>, the physical edition of <em>Elden Ring<\/em> sold around 350,000 copies (PS4\/PS5 combined) in Japan as of March 6. The concurrent player count on Steam is incredibly high as well, even two weeks after launch (<a href=\"https:\/\/steamdb.info\/app\/1245620\/graphs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SteamDB<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FromSoftware\u2019s director Hidetaka Miyazaki and Bandai Namco Entertainment\u2019s president Yasuo Miyagawa both made comments thanking the fans, with Miyagawa stating, &#8220;we will continue our efforts in expanding the brand beyond the game itself, and into everyone\u2019s daily life.&#8221;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hidetaka Miyazaki&#8217;s comment: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f8f9fa\">It&#8217;s astonishing to see just how many people have been playing &#8220;Elden Ring.&#8221; <br>I&#8217;d like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team.<br>&#8220;Elden Ring&#8221; is based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin.
