You could be right, but i think AI could be a new dawn of weird games because game development is more accesible to many more people. I think that gaming going mainstream is the death of weirdness and originality, take manga and anime as example where more and more artist want to please the western audience and shareholders and instead of writing what they want, they write what they think makes the most sales. I fear we never see anything like the first Gantz for example, the new Gantz is so sterile and boring. So i like to put my money on AI and real Nerds to give gaming a new boom, but like your comment the opposite could also happen.
