California alone has a population less than a third on Japan while roughly the same area, yet multiple people are murdered every day there alone (1782 reported in 2024). Japan is culturally and ethnically homogenous, so its public transport is safe instead of being a place where people are set on fire on trains, pushed onto the tracks or being murdered by insane felons arrested and released 14 times like Iryna Zarutska was.
