Unfortunately, creating games not under a tight decision-making board or corporation in general also has cons. Just like what happened with Eiyuden which was an "intended" spiritual successor of Suikoden by Konami. It wasn't a hit not because it was bad, but because it had too much freedom that there was no one to filter what points will sell and what will not.. resulting in a mid-tier, generic game. But ofc it's not Hideo Kojima level of genius but you get my point

That is true AA's have money and resources that allow them to be versatile and take risks due to the budgets not being tremendously high. I do largely think that in today's environment the risks are not as high as day 13 years ago. There is still Unreal Engine, Unity and Open Source like Godot Engine(or Redot which is a fork of Godot) that are free to use and information exists online. Only difference is talent and work effort.

Unfortunately it's kind of difficult to expect individual artists to thrive and execute their vision if they need to function as salary men random encounter monster sprite artists for 10 projects they don't care about before anyone even considers giving them any amount of creative influence over their own project, even if it has the budget of a tuna can and a shoestring.
